Oak Bench
This incredible piece of oak might be a few hundred years old. I counted more than 100 growth rings just in this small section alone! However old it is, its gorgeous in its new life as an entry way bench for Scott and Dana here in their new home in Park City.
We were going to do the traditional square bases underneath but I feel like that gets done way too much. Ive always liked to add some angles to otherwise square/boxy stuff and cam up with this idea. I built a little jig to keep each leg at the exact same angle when I welded things up and finished everything with a light grinding, leaving a slight trace of the mill-scale so things didn’t get too flashy. This thing is cool…
Price for a similar bench = material cost plus $250 for base/legs.
