A long time coming…
Jon and Lee contacted me a few months ago about building them a dining table for their new home here in Park City. Moving all the way from Australia, they wanted to make sure everything was in order when their home, and move was finished. They knew they wanted a statement piece that would not only accent their amazing new home, but still be a sensible and functional piece of furniture as well. After a long search, they settled on this incredible slab of Guanacaste wood. Guanacaste, or the Guanacaste tree, is the national tree of Costa Rica. It is used for everything from food to jewelry to beautiful slabs of wood like this one and is also sustainably harvested which only added to its great choice as a top for this awesome table. I welded up some steel pedestal bases and did a swirl finish that mimic’d the stainless steel trim throughout their house. I think the result is stunning.
